Jasikan Diocese Prepares for New Bishop

The Catholic Diocese of Jasikan has announced that the Episcopal Ordination of Rev. Msgr. Simon Kofi Appiah, PhD, Bishop-elect of the Diocese, will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the St. Peter Claver Cathedral, Jasikan, in the Oti Region.


The announcement was contained in an official notification dated January 22, 2026, issued on behalf of the outgoing Bishop of Jasikan, Most Rev. Gabriel A. A. Mante, together with the Clergy, Religious and lay faithful of the Diocese.


According to the notice, activities marking the ordination will span a full week, beginning on Monday, April 6 and ending on Sunday, April 12, 2026. A detailed programme of events will be communicated in due course.


As part of the spiritual preparations towards the historic event, the Diocese will observe a Diocesan Novena ahead of the ordination. The Director of Liturgy is expected to announce the modalities and dates for the novena in the coming weeks.


The Episcopal Ordination of Rev. Msgr. Simon Kofi Appiah is expected to be a significant milestone in the life of the Catholic Diocese of Jasikan and for the wider Catholic community in Ghana.
